AVPreserve announces the release of episode #3 of “More Podcast, Less Process”, the archives podcast co-produced with METRO. This week’s episode is “Archives in the Classroom – Archives as the Classroom” with guests Janet Bunde, Director of Outreach & Advocacy and Ryan Anthony Donaldson, Vice President, both from Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, and Robin Katz, Outreach & Public Archivist, Brooklyn Historical Society. Janet and Ryan discuss the Archives Education Institute, an annual program sponsored by ART that provides training and curricula to K-12 teachers on the use of primary materials in classroom instruction, and Robin represents the Students and Faculty in the Archives (SAFA) project at BHS, a multi-year research project looking to develop a replicable pedagogical model for collaboration between heritage institutions and colleges and universities. It was a wide ranging talk on the use of archives for education, and very enlightening regarding the strong desire there is by educators to understand and use archival materials.
